Betty Ferguson Foundation was established in December 1998 in response to a growing need for an organization to support and promote the personal and professional growth of women and teen girls.
Betty Ferguson was the mother of Judy Cox, one of the foundation's founding members. She was born on October 1, 1922, in the state of Indiana. Shortly after Betty passed away in 1996, Judy was going through her mother’s finances, and discovered that Betty gave her money to women and youth organizations. To understand the full impact of this, you would need to know that Betty gave of herself and her earthly possessions without hesitancy. She lived a simple, almost austere life, not giving to herself but to others.
This non-profit foundation was established with a small sum of money left to Judy, by her mother. The foundation was named after Betty in her honor.
Prior to the establishment of the non-profit status, we were operating as a women’s organization, Mes Amies, which began in July of 1997. We incorporated in December of 1998, and became certified as a non-profit, public charity 501 (c) (3) in March 2000. Learn More |
